What Is The ddr German Shepherd?

DSC_0158.JPG

a long time ago (1889) a man named Captain Max von Stephanitz left his dream of being a veternarian in berlin to join up with the military to appease his family. as a part of the german calvery stationed in the counrtyside he was used to seeing herding worker dogs in the field. This all inspired stephanitz to purchase an estate in the Bavarian town of Grafath. his mission was to create a superior, standerdized herding dog. While max was attending a nearby dog show

he made several observations about the dogs in the ring. Stephanitz took a liking to a few specific dogs, some of which posessed the key phenotypical traits in that of a prized working dog. This very occurance is what drove him to found the german shepherd breed. German shepherds were bred for herding cattle, millitary, and policing . German shepherds, equipt with nerves of steel and determination that of a soldier on the battlefield, would make the perfect working dog. These are the exact qualities that have managed to stay in tact with the ddr/czech shepherd lines. These traits are what makes this breed so desirable and creates the perfect recipe for the most loyal companions..

This expression is not takin in a litteral sense but is most deffinitly accurate to a high degree. What you feed your german shepherd , or any dog for that matter, is very important. most german shepherds fully grown will need between 1,740 and 2,100 cal. (working/active dog)a day! there are many nutrition plans and brands out there that can keep you on the right path. just rememeber to feed them properly and keep them well fed so they can keep the train rolling!
